COVID-19 has highlighted the inequities faced by senior women.
For example:
- Rates of loneliness and mental health issues in older women have increased during the #COVID19 pandemic.
- Older women workers are returning to the labour market at a slower rate than any other group – many are helping with childcare in their families.
This event will bring together expert speakers from across sectors to discuss a timely and important issue – the safety and economic security of senior women during the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics that will be covered include isolation, engaging senior women with community services, and impacts to their economic well-being.
Facilitated by: Helen Hirsh Spence, CEO Top Sixty Over Sixty
Speakers:
- Margaret Arnason, Training, Resource & Outreach Coordinator at Seniors Safety Line-Assaulted Women’s Helpline
- Krista James, National Director, Canadian Centre for Elder Law
