Across Canada, countless seniors face social isolation and negative health outcomes due to lack of transportation that meets their needs. But before we can fix the problem, we need more information.
That’s where you can help.
F.A.S.T. (funding accelerator for seniors transportation) Track is a national initiative supporting transportation innovation, led by HelpAge Canada and delivered by CanAge and O’Hara Aging + Accessibility Inc.
We’re collecting data from municipalities, community groups and organizations like yours to create the first ever “snapshot” of seniors’ transportation in Canada, so we can better understand the current state of seniors’ transportation: the gaps, barriers and existing solutions that are already working. Once we better understand where we are, we can get on the right track to meeting the challenge.
How you can help
Submit a Community Profile
Whether or not you directly provide transportation for seniors, the data you submit will help identify gaps, barriers and opportunities to improve how older people get around in communities across Canada.
Submit your solution
After you complete your Community Profile, you can submit your ideas and solutions for seniors’ transportation. Your submission will be evaluated by a national network of transportation and aging experts. Winners will receive national recognition, a cash prize of $5,000, a consultation package to refine their solution, and the potential to connect with funders who can make these innovations a reality for seniors.
Spread the word
If you know of others who are interested in supporting seniors, and ensuring they have the supports they need to live healthy and vibrant lives, share this information with them and encourage them to submit their Community Profiles, too.
With your help, we can address this urgent issue and kick Canada’s transportation systems into high gear!
