Following on the heels of our World Elder Abuse Awareness Day campaign, which engaged nearly 1000 people in the urgent challenge of protecting older Canadians from harm, we’ve been invited by the Federal Minister of Seniors to join a group of experts tasked with creating a national definition of elder abuse.

By sitting on this influential roundtable, we’ll be able to represent our members as the federal government works to create a nationally accepted and consistent understanding of what elder abuse is and how to prevent it.

This important work is another step forward in our advocacy on Violence and Abuse Prevention, found under V in our policy book, VOICES: A Roadmap to an Age-Inclusive Canada.

More to come!
